Meet Tanika!

Time to meet Tanika!  She is the first of my full body puppets and my favorite!  Tanika comes to Mother Goose on the Loose with me each week at both the Noah Webster Library, and Faxon.   She is incredibly social, saying hello to everyone!  And she gives out the best hugs at the end of our program.
Whenever I ask her about her favorite part of story time...she tells me it is the lullaby song and the bouncing rhymes.
Tonight we need to make some Valentines for our flannel board stories...and Tanika wants them all to be purple, her favorite color!  We'll see about that!

be bop on Friday night and a little bit more!

Oh, how we love this book!
The 2012 Caldecott Winner, Chris Raschkawrote another one of our favorite books:
Charlie Parker played be bop.
This is a sassy jazzy story and a wonderful read aloud. I am thinking it would be really nice if Piper could play the saxophone in Story Time!

Chris Raschka illustrated another "fav
The Hello, Goodbye Window
Nanna and Poppy's kitchen window is the place to be!  This is a very sweet beautifully illustrated lap-share book. Pick it up at your library and read with your grand children or have it in the house when the grandparents come over.

Oh and before we say good night there is one more book we want to mention, Fire Drill
by Paul DuBois Jacobs and Jennifer Swender.  This is the perfect book for preschool through
grade one for practicing fire drills - something we should all do.  The simple rhyming text and
clear colorful artwork guide children through all the steps.  Borrow it from your library and practice at home and in school!
P.S. make it the book you read to your child's class each year.

The books we love right now!

These are the books we're talking about!
We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

This book is so much fun...just try it - you will be laughing

A darling story of the young Jane Goodall and her favorite toy chimpanzee!

Falling in love with books ...Lily is the best

Snow, winter, snowflakes...and Piper and I love birds!
This is an old book - but I never knew it...discovered it on Pinterest with the Flannel Friday gang!

Simply beautiful!

Piper is always the STAR at Pajama Story Time!

Our week begins each Monday evening with Pajama Story Time at the Faxon Branch Library in West Hartford.  Generally Piper likes to review books over the weekend..so we bring home quite a few.  Considering the snowy weather..both Piper and I agree that Allison McGhee's new book making a friend  will be perfect. (the new friend is a snowman)

Piper insist on bringing along one of her favorite friends, Twinkle the fairy...and then we can all sing Twinkle, Twinkle, little star.  We especially like to sit close and cuddle when we sing Twinkle Twinkle.

Piper's second book choice is Library Lily by Gillian Shields.  She just may like this book because Lily has a dog!!

And that will take us to Dog's Colorful Day...we will tell the story on the flannel board and have lots of flannel dots for the pajama clad kids to place on the flannel board.   We'll prepare a craft tomorrow at the library when we check supplies and of course we will have to have a few songs...and maybe even snow balls!  (more on snowballs later - my colleague, Kari Ann, taught me about indoor snow balls.)
P.S.  Piper loves indoor snow balls!
